Welcome
Know Pain is a comprehensive educational program on pain designed to meet the learning needs of non-pain specialists, primary care physicians, nurses and pharmacists dealing with patients suffering from pain.
The program is comprised of nine modules, covering the following topics:
- Pain in general
- Acute pain
- Chronic joint pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Central sensitization/dysfunctional pain
- Low back pain
- Headache & Migraine
- Cancer-related pain
- Visceral Pain
Each module consists of a comprehensive bank of slides, videos, tools, patient cases, interactive questions and frequently asked questions, divided according to sub-topic. For your convenience, a one-hour general presentation has been developed for each module. You may use this presentation as is, adapt it to suit your audience and time frame, or create an entirely new presentation using the slides and other materials provided. Overall Learning Objectives
This program will enable participants to:
- Discuss the prevalence of different types of pain across numerous geographic regions
- Understand the impact of pain and its comorbidities on patient functioning and quality of life
- Explain the pathophysiology of pain based on the understanding that nociceptive pain, neuropathic pain and central sensitization/dysfunctional pain are the three fundamental underlying types of pain
- Apply suitable assessment techniques and tools in order to differentially diagnose patients presenting with pain
- Sharing the latest regional and international clinical practice guidelines recommendations for the management of different types of pain
- Select appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies for the management of pain and ensure patients adhere to recommended therapy
